Nostalgia

The Russian poet Andrei Gorchakov, accompanied by information and translator Eugenia, is touring by Italy researching the lifetime of an 18th-century Russian composer. In an historic spa city, he meets the lunatic Domenico, who years earlier had imprisoned his family in his home for seven years to avoid wasting them from the evils of the world. Seeing some deep fact in Domenico’s act, Andrei turns into drawn to him. In a collection of goals, the poet’s nostalgia for his homeland and his eager for his spouse, his ambivalent emotions for Eugenia and Italy, and his sense of kinship with Domenico turn out to be intertwined.
